Yes, that was me.
Welcome to the Two-Headed Cop production blog!
I’m the director, Derek Friesenborg, and over the next year or so I’ll be giving you the inside skinny on our progress as we create this complex, almost half-hour animated short. Currently, we are still in pre-production, but are nearing the start of animation. The film has almost thirty unique character designs, of which we have about twenty finished. So far those have been translated into thirteen models, and the first few finished rigs are about to roll off our assembly line, ready to be animated.
The main character, Two-Headed Cop, has, as you may have surmised, two heads. One Asian, one Caucasian, both named Ray. As part of this intro I thought it would be cool to include some early designs for C-Ray and A-Ray, as we’ve come to call them. (Or him. Either way.)
These were created by our star designer, Anna Wilkenfeld.

You can find more non-2HC related drawings from Anna at her deviantArt page here: http://adoradora.deviantart.com/gallery/
She’s awesome! Or the bee’s knees, as it were.
More on how this whole shebang got started in the next post.
Thanks for tuning in,
-Derek
We’re gonna be at Comic-Con next week!
Booth #2445, the AnimationRigs.com booth, is the officially sanctioned “Two-Headed Cop” booth this year. Huzzah! Your dreams have been realized!

Come to our booth and you can watch our first fully animated sequence, the “Jail Sequence” in which a wrongly-accused Two-Headed Cop is dragged down into the bowels of the Fat City lock-up. What’re they gonna do?! Come to our booth to find out! (Here’s a look at a clip from the finished product.)
There will be concept art on display at the booth, and we’ll be offering lots of cool items, like the t-shirts from our competition, postcards, stickers, as well as other colorful ephemera. The main folks behind Two-Headed Cop, like co-creator Brian Ormiston, AnimationRigs founder Kevin Freeman, and myself, will be manning the booth, and we’d love for you to come by and say “hello.” Look for the giant version of this.
And here’s the map to help you find us. Click on the way-too-small-to-read version below to see a bigger, readable one:

Watch for other exciting announcements as we get nearer to Comic-Con.
Also, if you’re not attending Comic-Con this year, we’ll be posting updates and photos from the convention floor, to keep you “in the know.” You’re welcome!
We’ll see you next Thursday!

We had an amazing time at the San Diego Comic-Con. As someone who’s been living with this concept in isolation for many years, it was a real thrill to watch people mouth the words “Two-Headed Cop” as they spotted our giant backdrop from afar, and smile and head over to get a closer look. We also got a lotta laughs and head shakes from the tag line “Half Asian. Half Caucasian. ALL HERO.”
The video below pretty much sums it up:
One more amazing highlight: Glen Mazzara, executive producer of AMC’s “The Walking Dead”, came by the booth and liked what he saw! I didn’t know who it was at the time, but then he mentioned it in his Comic-Con diary in The Hollywood Reporter! Here’s the excerpt:

AWESOME! We love you, Glen Mazzara!
